Flagler Museum The Henry Morrison Flagler Museum - Our most recent project also represents our most challenging venture to date. The Flagler Museum in Palm Beach, Florida not only had complicated coatings to be removed, it also had massive damage from years of termite activity. The removal of layers of accumulated finishes in the winter home of Mr. Henry M. Flagler took a back seat to the careful reconstruction of thousands of damaged pieces of wood flooring in the intricate pattern floors. Approximately 18,000 of square feet of maple floors were badly damaged from previous termite infestation when this project was started in fall of 1998. Several thousand square feet of quarter sawed oak were also suffering from excessive sanding. By the time this project is completed in 2002, close to 23,000 square feet of maple, mahogany, oak and teak will have been completely restored in time for the museums centennial celebration. These floors are well prepared to face another hundred years. The Flagler Museum is one good reason for visiting south Florida or learn more about it by going to www.flagler.org. The Rosebud Co. is currently looking at additional projects where our preservation and conservation skills can be put to good use. Check here for updates. |
