The restoration
of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in downtown Atlanta was a particularly
rewarding project. This handsome structure is one of Atlanta's oldest
churches. The condition of the pine floors in the nave section of
the church presented us with a daunting challenge. With all the
pews removed, layers of accumulated finishes were carefully lifted
off the floor to reveal the aged, regal look that only old quarter
sawed heart pine can achieve. The combination of the aged wood,
brick and stone combine to create an extremely handsome interior.
A clear oil base sealer was applied over the raw wood to bring out
the aged beauty of this regal wood. The floors were then finished
off with protective coatings that will ensure many years of service
with very little maintenance.
